Gillett’s Wendorff leads local runners

The Oconto Falls girls placed fifth at the Freedom Irish Waters Cross Country Invite on Aug. 27.

The Panthers were led by Emma Meissner in 20:52.21.

She was followed by Lily Meissner, Sydney Braund, Alexandria Braund and Ava Holtz.

Pulaski cracks top 10 at Ashwaubenon Classic

Ashwaubenon Jaguar Classic

Pulaski made the top 10 while Shawano and Bonduel ended up in the bottom half of nearly two dozen teams competing at Hilly Haven Golf Course in De Pere.

Bay Port won the event with a 67.

Pulaski scored a 77, with Shawano hitting 79 and Bonduel finishing with a 90.

Bonduel Athletics preparing for annual golf outing

It’s almost time for the Bonduel Track and Field annual golf outing to benefit all Bonduel athletic programs.

This year’s four-person scramble and dinner event will be held Sept. 13 at the Golden Sands Golf Course in Cecil.

The shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. Cocktails will be served at 5:30 p.m., with the dinner at 6 p.m.

Prizes, raffles and auctions will follow the meal.

Shawano golfers edged Bonduel by one stroke to take second place at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Seymour.

Seymour won with a 183, followed by Shawano’s 218, Bonduel’s 219, Sturgeon Bay’s 236 and Oconto’s 242.

Pulaski tennis team shuts out Shawano

Pulaski’s girls tennis team defeated Shawano 7-0 among its several wins in Wausau.

The closest match came at No. 2 singles when Emory Groteluschen defeated Jaelyn Hietpas 6-3, 4-6, 10-4.

Chargers volleyball team goes 3-1 at SPASH

Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s girls volleyball team went 3-1 at a preseason tournament at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

“SPASH always hosts a great preseason tournament,” Chargers coach Becky Rew said. “Overall, we played well. We had a few up-and-down moments, but that is expected this early in the season. Our scrappiness and serving were big reasons we won three out of the four matches.”

Panthers place second at Waupaca

Oconto Falls senior Kylie Thompson tied for third with a 52, as the Panther golfers placed second among three teams.

Denmark won the meet with a 200, followed by Oconto Falls with 220 and Waupaca with 282.

Joining Thompson were junior Chloe Anastasopoulus with a 54, senior Addy Kluth with a 56 and senior Anna Burd with a 58.
