Lakes Country Public Library’s capital campaign to renovate and expand Lakewood Library is getting another boost after learning that, due to the overwhelming response to its October $10,000 donor match, a second anonymous donor has stepped forward, upping the ante with a $20,000 match challenge. “The speed with which we completed the first match was amazing,” said Linda McKenna, a member of the board of trustees who sits on the library’s building

The Oconto Falls High School Drama Team will soon be closing down its fall season with an opportunity for the community to see its competitive one-act entry of Dwayne Yancey’s “Code 40: Verona.” A community performance will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Falls Area Performing Arts Center at Oconto Falls High School.

The nation’s largest trail of barn quilts in Shawano County continues to grow with the addition of the 399th quilt. It is on display on a barn that overlooks the Wolf River at N5626 Poplar Road west of Shawano.

Spencer Lichon is the new strength and wellness coordinator at the Pulaski High School Fitness Center. Lichon is a 2007 Green Bay West High School graduate.

The Lena Lions welcomed Brad Paitl as a new member at the October meeting. Brad is a graduate of Lena High School and later attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College for police science. Brad started his law enforcement career in 1999 with the Lena Police Department. In 2004, he was hired by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy.

To honor the U.S. military and as a tribute to family members who have served our country, the pattern Randy and Renee Godin selected for their barn quilt has a patriotic theme. The quilt, Shawano County’s 398th, has been named Service with Pride and is on display on the Godin barn at W3506 State Highway 22, Cecil.
