Lena used a strong second-half performance to run away with a 68-45 win over Suring.

Freshman Ella Thomson scored 14 points to lead the Wildcats. Senior Madilyn Thomson added 12, and freshman Alisa Finger contributed another 10.

Antigo hockey team beats Rhinelander

The Red Robins co-op boys hockey team beat the winless Hodags 6-2 at the Langlade County Multi-Purpose Building.

Antigo is 5-2 (2-1 in the Great Northern Conference), while Rhinelander is 0-7 (0-4).

Ice Bears continue to dominate with another shutout

The Bay Area Ice Bears won their eighth game of the season on a fifth consecutive shutout with a 4-0 win over the Fond du Lac Warbirds.

Bay Area has outscored its opponents 30-0 in those five shutouts and 45-3 overall this season.

After a scoreless first period, the Ice Bears erupted for three goals in the first 3:34 of the second period.

Bonduel wrestlers split pair of CWC dual matches

It turned out to be a case of good news, bad news for the Bonduel wrestling team in its Central Wisconsin Conference meet in Weyauwega.

The Bears opened the three-team meet Dec. 15 with a 28-18 win over Manawa but ended up on the short end of an 82-0 score against Weyauwega-Fremont, one of the top Division 3 programs in the state this season.

Bonduel boys triumph over Menominee Nation

Bonduel 80, Menominee Nation 67

Ryan Westrich scored 23 points and pulled down 17 rebounds, while Quinn Wesenberg also scored 23 points as Bonduel defeated Menominee Nation 80-67 on Dec. 16.

Jack Weier contributed 12 points, and Griffin Uelmen added another 10 for the Bears.

Shawano’s Nordin makes it official: She’s a Badger

It’s been a year since Leah Nordin verbally committed to playing basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Shawano Community High School senior made it official in November by signing her National Letter of Intent to join the Badgers.
