The Bay Area Storm shut out the New Richmond Tigers 3-0 on Dec. 13.

All three goals were scored in the second period.

Hawks place 14th at Bay Port

Shawano’s boys wrestling team earned 225 points and placed 14th in the Battle of the Bay at Bay Port High School on Dec. 13.

“I was proud of the boys today,” coach Mike Homan said. “They wrestled hard in all of their matches and continue to improve.”

Marcus Brezgel placed sixth, and Nikkolas Waukau and Dane Hodkiewicz each finished eighth. Kody Popelka and Drew Chelberg each took ninth place, and Kian Morstad was 10th.

Shawano’s girls wrestlers have tough go of it in Brillion

Seven Shawano Community High School girl wrestlers competed at Brillion on Dec. 12, facing tough completion among the more than 300 others from around the state.

Zennah Bosetski , Gwyn Hermann, Jenna Moede, Madelyn Moesch, Ella Korth, Amiyah O’Kimosh and Vivian Waldburger wrestled, with Hermann placing sixth.

Menominee Nation boys come up short again

Numbers aren’t a problem this season for the Menominee Nation boys basketball team, as coach Joshua Gauthier has more than 40 players on the Eagles’ varsity, junior varsity and JV2 rosters.

Closing out a close game — especially against Central Wisconsin Conference-East opponents — is a different story, however.

Bonduel, W-B rolling through CWC-East schedule

It’s been smooth sailing so far in the Central Wisconsin Conference-East for two area girls basketball teams.

At the same time that Wittenberg-Birnamwood was well on its way to a 56-3 win over Shiocton to improve to 8-0 on the season, Bonduel also stayed perfect in conference play Dec. 12 with a 53-18 victory over Manawa at Little Wolf High School.
