The Shawano Woman’s Club recently announced a significant increase in the scholarships they are awarding to four local high school students and two adult learners at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in 2026.

Janet Koeller, president, and Luona Lipske, scholarship chairwoman, said because of the record amount of donations collected from the club’s 2025 fashion show, it is able to award a total of $14,000 in $2,500 scholarships to high school students and $2,000 to NWTC students. An additional $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student entering a trade, vocational or one-year agricultural program thanks to a special contribution from a club member in memory of her husband.

Lynn Zaffrann, fashion show publicity chairwoman, said the 2025 fundraiser had a net profit of $18,708, which enabled the new scholarship amounts being awarded this year. By comparison, the 2011 fashion show net profit was $6,957.

The club hopes to increase the net profit from the 2026 fashion show, its 20th annual event that will be held May 14 at Northwinds Banquet Hall, 1103 N. Main St. Marion. Tickets are $40 per person and are available by calling 715-570-0531 before May 1.

The woman’s club donates to a number of local nonprofits, in addition to the scholarships.
