TimberFest celebrates Northwoods logging tradition

The inaugural Northwoods TimberFest, a celebration of the Northwoods lifestyle, is scheduled Friday through Sunday at the Lakewood Pavilion Grounds in Lakewood. TimberFest will feature a timber and logging theme but will also showcase a cross-section of regional businesses, services and recreational opportunities. Entertainment will include Saturday and Sunday performances by the Great Lakes Timber Show, The Ladies of the North and plenty of music. Additional features will include the Kids’ Logging Camp, several how-to demonstrations and a shuttle to the nearby Holt & Balcom Logging Camp. Among the exhibits will be equipment and implements; RVs, campers and camping equipment; boats and pontoons; fishing and hunting gear; resorts and campgrounds; art and crafts; various services and many specialty items. A variety of specialty food will be available. Northwoods TimberFest hours are from 3-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Saturday and Sunday adult admission is $5. Youth under 12 get in free. Friday’s TimberFest preview is free. Parking is free. The Lakewood Pavilion Grounds are located at 17258 North Road near the intersection of state Highway 32 and County Road F in Lakewood.
