Dollars for Scholars gets $10K from basketball organization
Shawano Dollars for Scholars was presented with a $10,000 contribution from Shawano Boys Hoops Organization on Jan. 27. The contribution will provide scholarships to high school seniors who have participated in three or more years of basketball by either playing or managing at Shawano Community High School.
Oconto County public health revives car seat program
As a result of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, many health departments — including Oconto County Public Health — had to put nearly all of their programs on hold. One of those was the car seat program, but OCPH is once again accepting car seat appointments. “We are pleased to announce that we are starting our car seat program back up,” said Debra Konitzer, Oconto County health officer.

Spring breakfast to be served up by historical society
The Suring Area Historical Society will once again be sponsoring its annual spring breakfast from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 3 in the multi-purpose room at St. John Lutheran Church, 8905 St. Johns Road, Suring. The St. John ladies and area youth will be preparing a pancake breakfast with eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, cheese, onions and hash browns. Common redpolls not common sight but stand out
We were amazed to see a flock of common redpolls at our feeders today. They flutter down to the ground from our shrubby border like falling leaves, decorating the snowy ground with their small, energetic forms.
