Rotary elects officers, hands out scholarships

The Shawano Rotary Club recently elected officers and awarded scholarships to graduating high school seniors.

At the meeting, the club voted for Mike Morse to become the president, succeeding Gary Tauchen, who will now serve as past president. Treasurer Paula Wegner and secretary J.R. Habeck were re-elected. All officers were sworn in by Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court Judge William Kussel.

Summer fun impacted by water leak, tourists

From badges to collars

Two men from different parts of Shawano County had at one point in time served together at the county sheriff’s department.

Both men have since traded their badges for clerical collars — still serving people, but in a totally different capacity. Both have learned to listen to the Holy Spirit directing their lives through every phase.

For best popcorn around, you can get your fill at Moe’s

Popcorn, ice cream, and shaved ice, oh my.

Dana “Moe” Mueller, of Shawano, opened Moe’s on Main on April 17 and is already tempting the appetites of summer crowds with her gourmet popcorn, Chocolate Shoppe ice cream and Hawaiian shaved ice.

Improve a garden’s beauty, increase enjoyment, and reduce stress five minutes at a time. As gardeners we know, and research proves that gardening is good for the mind, body and spirit. However, busy schedules often lead to neglected projects, weedy gardens and long to-do lists.
