Soup Cook Off winners announced

Scott Brandenburg, of Marion, won the hot chili category at the Soup Cook Off in Clintonville last week on his first try. Brandenburg said his brothers encouraged him to enter the competition, held as part of the city’s Winter Whirl festivities. “My brothers are my best critics,” Brandenburg said as he accepted the first-place trophy Saturday following the contest held at the Park and Recreation Center. Second place went to Charlie Bettin and third place to Dick Gussert. The entry by Brayden McAuly and Brea Stevenson took first place in the mild chili category. Kathy Dins was second and Debbie Bettin was third. Sandy Schultz won the chicken soup category. Mary Tullberg was second and Brian Markiewicz was third. In the miscellaneous category, Patty McAuly was first, Schultz was second and Ut Gleisner was third. Gussert’s hot chili entry earned him the People’s Choice Award. Tullberg was second.
