The second annual patriotic sing-along, “I Pledge Allegiance,” an original Americantata, is looking for singers to lead the group singing and perform choral pieces surrounding the history of America’s Pledge of Allegiance.
Rehearsals will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sundays, June 22 and 29, in the Meunier-Pelow Auditorium in Gillett Secondary School. The production will be performed at 7 p.m. Monday, June 30, in the Meunier-Pelow Auditorium. The audience is encouraged to dress casually in red, white and blue.
This production is created and written by Gary Kopitzke and modeled after old-fashioned hymn sing-alongs.
“The Pledge of Allegiance” features several choral pieces, while the rest of the music will be sung by the entire audience. Song selections include “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “God Bless America,” “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” “God Bless the U.S.A.” and others. The performance will be followed by a reception in the commons adjoining the auditorium lobby.
There is no admission charge, but a minimum donation of $5 is encouraged. Proceeds will be used to purchase marching band uniforms for the Gillett band. The Meunier-Pelow Auditorium is air-conditioned and handicapped-accessible.
