Are you interested in getting some hands-on experience on what kind of training law enforcement does? Do you want to see what it takes to be an officer? Want to meet the deputies and officers that serve in the communities in Shawano County?
Shawano Citizens Police Academy is the place to do it. This is an interactive class where you get to see how officers train and see how they deal with different aspects of their jobs.
Meet the officers and take part in hands-on experiences, including seeing what it’s like to make a traffic stop, doing some building clearing where a suspect may be, learning some defense and arrest tactics including handcuffing, touring the Shawano Fire Department and doing some hands-on activities, touring the Shawano Ambulance and their ambulances, as well as many other activities.
Classes will meet from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 3 through Oct. 29.
Residency can be Shawano or Menominee County. Those who live somewhere close to Shawano County and don’t have a class in their area can reach out and possibly join.
Participants must be 18 or older. There is no cost to attend the program.
