Two people were arrested June 25 after investigators found evidence of a methamphetamine lab at a residence in Stiles.
A 49-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were booked into the Oconto County Jail. Charges are pending.
It is the Times Herald’s policy not to name suspects until they have been charged.
According to a news release from the attorney general’s office, a search warrant executed June 25 at 5196 St. Patrick’s Road, Lena, resulted in the recovery of materials necessary for the manufacture of methamphetamine, vessels suspected of having been used to produce and manufacture meth, meth manufacturing components, approximately 20 grams of finished methamphetamine product, meth waste and methamphetamine paraphernalia.
The search was conducted by special agents of the Wisconsin Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigation, with assistance from deputies with the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
“Meth continues to be a danger to Wisconsin communities, and the mobility associated with the manufacturing of this incredibly hazardous drug is alarming,” Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said in the release. “This investigation serves as another important reminder to all Wisconsin residents to watch for the signs of a clandestine meth lab and alert authorities if a lab is suspected in your neighborhood.”
It’s the second set of arrests in recent weeks of people suspected of making and selling methamphetamine in the county.
Wendy Pogrant, Ashley Van Norman, Nicholas Block and Joseph Anderson pleaded not guilty to drug charges June 19 in Oconto County Circuit Court. A search warrant executed May 28 uncovered packaged meth, supplies used for manufacturing the drug, and drug paraphernalia at the Oconto Falls trailer home where the four people and a child were living.
