The Oconto Falls School District recently received a $15,000 efficiency improvement incentive from Oconto Falls Municipal Utilities and power supplier WPPI Energy, reducing energy usage for the high school, middle school and elementary school.
The school district, one of the utilities’ larger customers, retrofitted lighting, added variable frequency drives to motors and pumps, upgraded HVAC systems and added a power management system to save electricity.
The projects are estimated to save $75,000 on electricity costs and 622,895 kilowatt-hours annually.
The school district completed projects, which also will save natural gas and water, in other district buildings, too.
“Oconto Falls Municipal Utilities continues to work hard to promote the efficient use of energy in the community by encouraging its customers to take advantage of a variety of energy-efficiency funding options,” said Chuck Grady, utility general manager.

“Energy conservation is the most practical and effective way that we can help protect the environment and keep customers’ electric bills down for the long term,” Grady said. “When our customers take steps to conserve, they not only save on energy costs, but they also help to lessen demands on the local electric system.”
Oconto Falls Municipal offers an array of additional programs and services, including financial incentives, to help customers make efficiency improvements.
