Pulaski loses season opener to De Pere

Sept. 5 De Pere 32, Pulaski 14 Pulaski scored first against De Pere but then gave up 32 unanswered points across three quarters to lose 32-14 in their first Fox River Classic Conference-North game of the season. With 3:56 to go in the first quarter, Ethan Schmidt completed a four-yard pass to Bohdan Schmidt for a score, followed by a successful extra point kick. De Pere rattled off 10 points in the second quarter to take a 10-7 halftime lead. A pair of third quarter TDs put De Pere up 24-7, and with another touchdown in the fourth quarter, Pulaski found themselves trailing 32-7 with half a quarter to play. Their second score came with 2:33 yet to play. Anthony Ficarri ran the ball in from one yard out, and with the extra point kick, the Red Raiders tallied their 14 game points. Ethan Schmidt completed 16-of-25 for 135, one touchdown and one interception. He also led the running game with 86 yards on 23 carries. Also with significant yardage on the ground were Bohdan Schmidt, 57 yards on seven carries, and Ficarri, 44 yards on 12 carries. Bohdan Schmidt was the top receiver, collecting 72 yards on nine catches. Joey Mijal caught three passes for 31 yards.
