Do you want your property taxes to increase? The April 7 election will include another referendum from Pulaski Community School District (PCSD) for iPads for each student. In 2013 town of Little Suamico paid school taxes of more than $2.6 million.
With the recent purchase of homes surrounding Glenbrook Elementary School and taking on additional debt for 10 years to upgrade Glenbrook even though open enrollment student numbers fluctuates, Pulaski School District wants to burden the taxpayers with yet another increase in our property taxes.
The district continues to lose around $120,000 yearly on the school lunch program and is spending $108,000 on new band uniforms. Where are their priorities?
If the referendum passes and you live in Oconto County, your property taxes will increase $66 per year for four years for Pulaski schools, $37.50 per year for 20 years to pay for the new Oconto County Jail, and $7.50 per year to pay for Northeast Wisconsin Technical College for 15 years ($150,000 property value). Brown County residents’ taxes will increase $73.
Many residents are on a fixed income and will not be able to afford this. When will it stop for the schools if they continue to keep asking for more? If PCSD and parents want the technology in their schools, have the parents pay for the iPads and maintenance. Taking on more debt is irresponsible and putting it on the backs of taxpayers is wrong.
On April 7 please vote no for the Pulaski Community School District referendum, and tell them to be responsible with the property tax money they already have.
