Nonprofit Profile

The former Shawano Medical Center Foundation is now ThedaCare Foundation-Shawano, whose purpose is to raise funds for the hospital. “We support the health care needs of ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano,” said Linda Gilbert, foundation director. Last year the organization raised $2.3 million, exceeding a goal of $1.5 million in the Living Well Together Campaign to support the new hospital, which opened in September. “It was so nice to see the support this community gave in their donations,” Gilbert said. “They didn’t want to see health care leave Shawano.” She said everyone, both patients and providers, are happy to have all the services on one campus. Members of the foundation supported the campaign through their fundraising efforts. An event to thank donors, who are recognized on the donor wall, was held in September. “The community supported this endeavor,” Gilbert said. “It was wonderful.” Some of the funds raised by the foundation were used for culturally sensitive artwork, and stone, brick and glass around the central healing garden. “It’s visible for all to enjoy,” Gilbert said. Foundation funds also helped pay for a new nurse call system and a new canopy over the clinic entrance. The group is in the process of planning new goals for 2016. “There will always be needs,” Gilbert said. The foundation was established in 1985 with the purpose of promoting and supporting quality health care though all of life’s stages in the community it serves. Officers are Holly Zander, president, Ron Malueg, vice president, Dan Miller, treasurer, and Diane Anderson, secretary. Elsie Greenhill, Lois Aumann, Ron Schmalz, Patsey Robertson, Christa Schoenhofen, Phil Hollar, Linda Beversdorf, Ron Thiry, Kate Dillenburg, Ryan Alexander, Leann Gueths and Jill Whiteman comprise the foundation’s board of trustees.
