Falls squanders lead, game against De Pere

Oconto Falls had De Pe re on the ropes early, however, a knockout punch wasn’t in store. Steve Jon Hammer
Steve Jon Hammer, 49, Green Bay, passed away suddenly due to a heart related condition Tuesday, July 2, 2013. He was born Oct. 6, 1963, to Robert and Catherine (Schweers) Hammer. Steve graduated from Preble High School in 1982 and later from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. On Sept. 17, 1988, he married Chantal Gull at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawano. Steve worked alongside of his father and brother in the family business, E.C.

Antone C. Reiter
Antone Reiter, 71, of Neopit, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, in Green Bay. Born on Jan. 17, 1942, in Keshena, he was the son of the late Antone Reiter and Alegra (Dick) Reiter. After attending high school, Antone enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Germany for four years. After his discharge, he was employed by the security department for the Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin until retiring.

Man drowns in Shawano Lake
A 56-year-old West Allis man drowned in Shawano Lake on Friday after trying to rescue his dog, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department said. Steven Olewinski and his wife, Mary Jo, along with their dogs, were in a boat on the lake near Weber’s Point in the northwest corner of the lake. Shortly before 11:30 a.m., one of the dogs jumped into the water and Olewinski went in to retrieve it, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Boat landing blitz gets out message
Lake associations statewide are spending the Independence Day weekend educating boaters and other water enthusiasts about invasive species and the threat they pose to native fish and plant life. A season of firsts at Shawano Speedway
Once again a first-time winner graced the Shawano Speedway winners circle. Young Oshkosh racer Nick Furman held off Cody Hudson and Tracy Wassenberg to win a caution-filled IMCA Sport Modified feature. Shawano golfer 7th at qualifier
Shawano golfer Kaden Gorman missed the alternate cut by one stroke and the qualifying cut by two strokes for an American Junior Golf Association tourney next week in Wisconsin. The MacArthur Towel and Sports Future Legends tournament will be held next week at The Legend of Brandybrook in Wales. Eugene D. Klosterman
Eugene Dale Klosterman, 81, of Bowler, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, in Shawano. Born on Dec. 21, 1931, in the town of Hartland, he was the son of the late Herman and Dora (Kroening) Klosterman. Eugene grew up in the Bonduel area. On June 11, 1955, he was united in marriage to Violet Gagnow in Navarino. After marriage the couple farmed the family farm in the town of Hartland.
