A 33-year-old Shawano man was arrested Monday after authorities busted an alleged pot operation in the town of Belle Plaine. Robert John Daskam, 76, of Bonduel, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, in Appleton. Born on Sept. 24, 1937, in Winnebago County, he was the son of the late Robert and Melissa (Mansfield) Daskam. On June 6, 1959, he was united in marriage to June Elaine Hafemann at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the town of Washington. She preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2006. Robert worked most of his life as a farmer.

Hilda C. Loehrl, 98, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of Shawano, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2013, at her residence. Hilda was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Aniwa, a daughter of the lat Frederick and Christena (Herrmann) Machmueller. She attended the Shawano schools and was a graduate of Shawano High School. She then attended the Shawano County Normal School and was a rural public school teacher for many years.
