Hilda C. Loehrl, 98, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of Shawano, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2013, at her residence.
Hilda was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Aniwa, a daughter of the lat Frederick and Christena (Herrmann) Machmueller. She attended the Shawano schools and was a graduate of Shawano High School. She then attended the Shawano County Normal School and was a rural public school teacher for many years. On June 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Herbert R. Loehrl at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Aniwa. The couple lived in Shawano following their marriage.
Hilda was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano, where she served with the Ladies Aid Society, the Tabitha Society and was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. For over 40 years Hilda transcribed Bible lessons into braille for the Lutheran Library for the Blind. Her husband, Herbert, preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1989.
Hilda is survived by her son, Frederick Loehrl, of Springfield, Ill.; a brother, Andrew Machmueller, of Wausau; several nieces and nephews.
Hilda was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service for Hilda Loehrl will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Pastor Roy Rinehart will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Woodlawn Cemetery of Shawano.
Relatives and friends may call at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service after 10 a.m. Friday until the hour of service.
