Ongoing problems reported at Suring well

The village of Suring is working with engineers to streamline the arsenic removal process of one of its wells. Representatives from Robert E. Lee & Associates met on April 21 with the Suring Village Board to explain the progress made with arsenic removal at Well No.
Building upgrades begin at Pioneer Villa
Work is beginning this spring at two low-income apartment buildings in Suring. Village Clerk Carol Heise, in an April 21 report to the Suring Village Board, said roofing will be done at Pioneer Villa, 415 N. Mill St., as soon as the weather permits. In addition, the windows will be replaced at Pioneer Villa and Manor Drive apartments, and new energy efficient appliances will replace the old ones.
Firm selected to demolish homes by courthouse
The stage is set for the demolition of 14 properties on the block north of the courthouse where a law enforcement center will be constructed. The Oconto County Board on Thursday selected Statewide Razing, of Combined Locks, to remove the properties at a cost of just under $150,000.

It’s construction season once again in the city of Oconto Falls, marking the start of the second year of a two-year project.

BASEBALL Oconto Falls 8 Coleman 3 Senior Riley Gruetzmacher batted 4 for 4 with a team-leading 3 RBIs in the Panthers’ nonconference win Saturday at Coleman. Gruetzmacher’s single scored Mike Manns (1-4, double, two RBIs, two runs) in the first inning.
Suring sweeps M&O track triangular
The Suring High School girls track team won 13 of 18 events, en route to 117 points, in a Marinette & Oconto Conference triangular April 21 at Gillett. The Suring boys also placed first with 80 points. Crivitz took second with 57 points and Gillett third with 46 points. In the girls meet, Gillett took second with 29 points.
Falls bounces back to defeat Seymour
It was a tale of two ballgames for the Oconto Falls High School softball team last week. Doris L. Lunde
Doris L. Lunde, 97, Neenah, formerly of Green Bay and Oconto Falls, died Saturday morning, April 25, 2015, at a Neenah hospital. She was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Trempealeau to Otto and Mary “Maime” (McManus) Crivits. Doris grew up in Trempealeau, where she graduated high school and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
Arvid M. Schulz
Arvid M. Schulz, 83, of Appleton, passed away at his home on Monday, April 20, 2015. Arvid was born on July 26, 1931, in Suring to the late Fred and Esther (Nelson) Schulz. He married Sharon Francek on Aug. 9, 2008. Arvid was a supervisor at Crafts Incorporated in Manitowoc and Appleton for more than 54 years, retiring in 2005.
Thomas J. Konczal
Thomas J. Konczal, 70, of Gillett, died on April 20, 2015. He was born on June 5, 1944, to the late Jerome and Rose (Baranski) in Chicago, Illinois. Thomas and Patricia (Biondo) were united in marriage on March 21, 1964, in Crown Point, Indiana. Thomas worked for many years as an auto mechanic; he took pride in fixing anything that was broken. He enjoyed taking long rides on his Harley motorcycle with his wife, traveling and camping.
