• James L. Valley, 41, Gillett, was charged May 19 with three counts of felony bail jumping and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. Judge Jay Conley set a $750 cash bond and adjourned his initial appearance until June 3.

Gresham gives 17 diplomas to high school grads

Gresham Community School sent 17 graduates out into the world May 22 with diplomas and messages of hope.

Most of the graduates have known each other since kindergarten, according to valedictorian Riley Hohensee, which means there has been no hiding for the class of 2026, because everybody knows each other in the school.

Leopolis edges Caroline in BABA matchup

Leopolis, Little Falls, Caroline and Gresham picked up BABA wins over the Memorial Day weekend.

Jackson Krohn and Brady Hannes had two hits to help Leopolis defeat the Cougars.

Klay Barkow and Klay Finger led Caroline with two hits.

Pulaski needs 12 innings to top Cecil

The Memorial Day weekend meant Dairyland League baseball games were played May 21 or May 22 instead of May 24.

Pulaski and Bonduel picked up wins over Cecil and Hofa Park, respectively, May 22, while Navarino defeated Marinette on May 21. Hortonville also hosted Shawano on May 22, but a final score was not reported.

It was three games and three tie scores as Pulaski and Oshkosh West battled to a 1-1 draw. It was the Red Raiders’ third straight tie game.

Patti Peterman

Patti Jean Peterman, of Shawano, 65, passed away Friday, May 22, 2026, in Shawano.

Patti was born Sept. 28, 1960, in Shawano to Elroy “Butch” and Beverly “Bev” (Malley) Bergner. With the artistic abilities of her mother and her father’s flare for mischief, Patti’s philosophy in life was simple: be kind and enjoy the simple things. The family’s summer cottage on Shawano Lake was the source of most of Patti’s favorite memories.

David Saffran

David James Saffran, 68, passed away May 21, 2026. Born on July 26, 1957, David was the son of Walter and Lorna Saffran, who preceded him in death.

David proudly served in the United States Army and later worked for the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department as a public safety telecommunicator for two decades.
