It is hard to believe, but a week has passed since my surgery (June 10).

Joan Yvonne (Grignon) Waukau, 81, died peacefully on June 18, 2015, surrounded by the love of God and her family. She was born in Keshena on Jan. 19, 1934, to the late Jerome and Sunday (Tourtillott) Grignon. No matter where she resided, Neopit was always her home. She spent the last years of her life at the Maple Lane Nursing Home in Shawano. Joan attended St. Anthony Catholic School in Neopit and was a graduate of Shawano High School.

Sean Lawrence Checora, 20, of Keshena, died on June 14, 2015, in Fort Duchesne, Utah. Sean was born March 23, 1995, in Shawano, the son of Leslie Rose Tourtillott and Alfred Scott Checora. Sean was outgoing, happy and always smiling. He loved his family and spending time with his friends. Sean enjoyed going in the woods with his papa, playing soccer and baseball.
