For a 16th year, the staff of The Stephenson National Bank & Trust will earn the Wisconsin Bankers Association award for outstanding commitment to financial education in the community. SNBT bankers will receive the State Bankers Promoting Financial Literacy Award for teaching over 900 individuals throughout the past year. “Access to financial education is critical for teens as well as adults,” said Dan Peterson, SNBT president and CEO.

The staff at Suring School educated students about proper hygiene and gave the school a good cleaning last week after three students reported having MRSA, an infection that is resistant to certain antibiotics. Eight Japanese students took a crash course in what it’s like to be an American, learning about our culture as they shared theirs. Students from Tomiura Junior High School in Japan arrived on Friday, Oct. 2, for a seven-day sister school exchange program with Washington Middle School students in Oconto Falls.

To the editor: Most of us people in our state know that our governor doesn’t know what he is doing. He made some powerful mistakes. I say he should resign and go back to school to finish his degree. It’s apparent that if he runs for a third term, he won’t win. I do not find it funny that our state is a mess. Cuts, defunding, etc. needs to stop. I don’t think he is thinking about the welfare of Wisconsin.
