Senior Austin Lhotka led the Shawano Community High School cross-country team once again, finishing the Bay Conference Meet at SCHS on Thursday in 16:56 and earning himself first-team all-conference honors. Only two runners, both from Xavier, crossed the finish line in from of him. Not too far behind though were Andrew Cardish and Chase Lhotka, finishing in ninth and 10th place, respectively.

Lester Quandt, 78, of Bonduel, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, after a courageous, nine-year battle with liver cancer. Throughout his battle, he never gave up. “When you’re hurting you need to keep trying.” He gave 110 percent, just like he always said. Lester was born in the town of Hartland on Aug. 16, 1937, to the late Willie and Leona (Boettcher) Quandt. He was baptized on Sept. 5, 1937, and confirmed in his faith in May 1948.
