UW-Platteville The University of Wisconsin-Platteville announces its dean’s list, honoring those full-time students who earned high honors in the fall 2023 semester. College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture and the College of Liberal Arts and Education require grade-point averages of 3.75 and above for dean’s list honors, while the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science requires students to reach at least a 3.5. Bryant M. Hodkiewicz
Bryant Michael Hodkiewicz, 47, Stiles, was called to his eternal home in heaven on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family following a four-year battle with illness. The second of four sons of Michael and Mary (Scheffen) Hodkiewicz was born Jan. 26, 1977. Bryant grew up in Lena where he attended St. Charles Parochial School before graduating from Lena High School with the class of 1995.

DiAnne C. Hodel
DiAnne C. Hodel, 79, of Gillett, passed away early Friday morning, Feb. 16, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. DiAnne was born on July 4, 1944, in Michigan, daughter of the late Irv and Ginger (Graham) Clark. Following high school, DiAnne trained as a beautician and was employed as a beautician until her retirement. On Feb. 13, 1987, she married Thomas Hodel. This week, they celebrated 37 years of marriage.

Leads developed in case of dog shot in the face
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department is reporting some progress in its quest to find the person or person responsible for allegedly shooting a dog in the face and leaving on the side of the road. “We understand there is a great deal of frustration and anger about this case, but we can assure everyone that our office is working on this case,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s department.

Rigsby, Smith advance in Shawano County Board race
Voters in the newly aligned Shawano County Board District 22 sent R. Raymond Rigsby and Anne Smith to the April 2 general election following the Feb. 20 primary. Rigsby collected 94 votes, including 56 from the Town of Seneca, Ward 1, and 30 from the Town of Grant, Ward 1.

Weight restrictions to be in place for county highways
The Shawano County Highway Department will impose seasonal weight restrictions on various county trunk highways Feb. 26. The weight restrictions are 6 tons gross load for single axle and 10 tons gross load for each tandem axle (any two axles under 8 feet apart). The maximum gross vehicle weight is 26 tons. Shawano County Highway Department will begin installing signs along all posted roads beginning at 6 a.m.

Menominee tribe launches recovery coaching program
Seven specially trained and certified recovery coaches are now available to assist those seeking recovery from substance use as well as those in active recovery. The program is an initiative of Menominee’s Drug Addiction Intervention Team (DAIT) and the Menominee Indian Tribe Community Addiction Assistance Program (MITCAAP). “A recovery coach is a partner in the path to recovery,” said MITCAAP coordinator and recovery coach Lydi Vele.
