The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is encouraging Wisconsinites and out-of-state visitors to take advantage of unusually warm winter temperatures to get outside and explore northern Wisconsin. “Some years, we hear people talk about how the long Midwest winters make them feel restless indoors,” said Steve Schmelzer, DNR parks and recreation management director.

Judith Anne Krejcarek, 82, of Coleman, passed away on Feb. 19, 2024, with her daughters by her side at Rennes East. Judy was born on Oct. 17, 1941, to John and Mary (Kleewein) Mlynarski in Milwaukee. After Judy graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1959, she went on to study education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, graduating in June 1965.

Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe box collection is underway for 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 S. Main St., Oconto Falls. Ellen Pritzlaff, local coordinator, said this year’s goal is 600 shoe boxes filled with basic school supplies, small stuffed animals, games, puzzles, washcloths, bar soap, combs, brushes, toothbrushes, anything suitable for young children ages 2-14.
