April 11 Bonduel 11, Weyauwega-Fremont 0 Bonduel shut out Weyauwega-Fremont 11-0 in five innings to win its third game of the season. Bonduel started out hot with two runs on three hits in the first with Colin Margelofsky and Brodie Hartmann hitting doubles. After scoring one run in the second, the Bears added six more in the third on two hits and six walks.

Pulaski scored a 356 and placed sixth out of nine teams at the Brown County Metro Championship at Wander Springs Golf Course in Greenleaf on April 10. West De Pere won with a 314. Scoring for the Red Raiders were Connor Burant with an 82 in a tie for 11th place, Dixon Holewinski with an 86 for a tie in 16th, Zachary Valeria with a 91 and tie for 27th and Nathan Jossie with a 97 for 35th place. Benson Chlopek carded a 102 for 40th.

It was another rough outing for the Pulaski boys lacrosse team, losing 21-3 to the Oneida Nation Thunderhawks. The game was scoreless through the first three quarters, only to see all 24 goals come in the final stanza.

April 9 Bay Conference Quadrangular Shawano’s boys and girls track and field teams each took first place at a Bay Conference Quadrangular at New London, with Seymour and Green Bay East. St. Norbert College Emma Herb of Wittenberg was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Herb was initiated at St. Norbert College in De Pere. Herb is among about 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.

Linsey Mathews served many people during her nursing career but has switched gears and is now in the business of serving food. Her endeavor as owner of The Melt Stop, a mobile food truck with nutritious food, is gaining popularity among the locals and beyond. For a few years as she’d watch food shows on TV, Mathews would turn to her husband and declare, “I can do that.” It piqued an interest deep inside.

North Airport Drive (County Road HHH) from East Green Bay Street north to Gumaer Road is closed to through traffic weekdays for the next five weeks. Reconstruction of the roadway began April 17 and is expected to run through May 24. The road will be reconstructed within the existing road right-of-way. It will be closed to through traffic from 6 a.m. Mondays through 4:30 p.m. Fridays.

After getting removed from the cow barn, the downed cow was lying in back yard. Ears drooping, eyes sunken in their sockets, large and unseeing — she was breathing, but barely. My heart broke for her. Such a good cow. Sadly, she had fallen and split herself and consequently had to be put out of her misery when the rendering truck drove in. As soon as she had been brought into the yard, I hauled a pail of water out to her.
