David L. Erdman, age 64, of the Town of Grant, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 5, 2024, at his home. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Marion, is assisting the Erdman family.

Cerveny resides in Gresham, where she attended Gresham Community School.

The Oconto County Substance Use Alliance for Change has announce the launch of a comprehensive community survey to understand the impact of drugs and alcohol in Oconto County by gathering insights directly from community members. This initiative seeks to gather information about individuals’ experiences, perceptions, and behaviors related to drug and alcohol use.

The Democratic Party of Shawano County will have a speaker, Jamie Shiner, on June 19 at 7 p.m. at the Shawano Civic Center, 225 S. Main St., Shawano. Shiner will share her experiences as a transgender person as part of an observance of Pride Month, which is a month recognizing lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people and people who identify as queer.

Parents and community members spent about an hour June 4 talking with Shawano School District Superintendent Kurt Krizan about the good and the bad things regarding the public schools and what their thoughts are about making things better. It was the first of four summer superintendent chats planned by the district where Krizan plans to get input on what can be done to ensure students are getting a good education.

Royce LaRock’s new trial date will be Aug. 12 as he faces a charge of attempted homicide and other charges relating to an April 2023 crime. During a status conference June 5, it was confirmed that the date, set in early March, would work as planned. A final pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Aug. 6. “The trial date in August is the second trial date we’ve had,” said Carly Krueger, LaRock’s attorney.
