Panthers, Bears win on softball diamond

Oconto Falls 10, Peshtigo 6

Delaney McNichols and Katelyn Kurek each hit 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored as Oconto Falls beat Peshtigo 10-6. Kurek also had three RBIs, and McNichols had two.

Amelia Danielczak hit 3-for-4 with two RBIs and triple, and scored three times.

Emma Laughrin was 2-for-3 and scored three times. Megan Kesler had a pair of RBIs.

Gillett, Lena golfers tie for win in Marinette

Gillett and Lena each scored a 190 to share the title at the Marinette & Oconto Conference meet at Little River Golf Course in Marinette.

Lena’s Cooper Demmith was the medalist with a 44, followed by Gillett’s Katelyn Sturm with a 45.

Gresham offers wellness night to community

Gresham Community School took its mission of wellness and invited the community April 22 to take part in healthy activities that help to bring everyone together.

Children and adults alike gathered to play pickleball, cornhole, board games and cards. They also got the chance to learn how to use an automated external defibrillator while also learning that healthy activity should be part of everyone’s life.

National forest campgrounds expected to open soon

It won’t be long and Oconto County’s three Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest campgrounds will be open for business for the 2026 season.

Those campgrounds are located in the Bagley Rapids Recreation Area near Mountain, Boot Lake Recreation Area near Townsend and Boulder Lake Recreation Area near White Lake.

Lena trounces Wausaukee 20-3

Teagan Tate hit 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs as Oconto Falls dropped a 5-3 decision to Waupaca.

Carter Heroux was the losing pitcher. In four innings, he allowed three runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out six.

Floodwaters should increase turkey hunting success

In about 60 years of hunting, I’ve read a lot of articles around deer, small game, upland bird, predator and turkey hunting. It’s hard for magazines to come up with something truly new to say about hunting anything, although I keep buying them. You probably do, too.

Add a bit of cheddar to your biscuits

Cheese biscuits is yet another recipe from “The Great Big Cookie Book,” although they are not cookies. A savory twist on a normal biscuit, cheese biscuits are quick and easy to make.

The original recipe called for dry mustard, but as I didn’t have any, I used garlic powder instead. You could add any spice you wish, or even herbs like basil or parsley.

Kimberly beats Pulaski on soccer field

Pulaski goalkeeper Lucia Di Gennaro had eight saves against Kimberly, but it wasn’t enough as the Red Raiders ended up on the short end of a 3-1 score.

Scoring Pulaski’s only goal was Ruth Kruase, with an assist by Leah Grygiel.

The Red Raiders fall to 3-2-1.

Pirates tennis team shuts out Red Raiders

Bay Port 7, Pulaski 0

Pulaski tennis players were shut out 7-0 at Bay Port.

Coming up short in singles play were Oriol Capella Rodon, Jonah Drevs, Aaron Trijueque Ruiz and Liam Ford.

Playing doubles for the Red Raiders were Oscar Delmarcelle and Lucas Ford, William Gosse and Conrad Kreutzberg, Simon Banaszynski and Mahmoud Hassan.

Nancy A. Robaidek, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The daughter of the late Arthur and Martha (Waschbisch) Desreumaux was born July 14, 1935, in Oconto Falls.
