Jeanne Lawniczak

Jeanne Lawniczak, 87, Krakow, died peacefully Friday evening, Oct. 18, 2013. The daughter of Percy and Lillian (Wilson) Hudson was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Oconto Falls. On Sept. 9, 1950, she married Leonard Lawniczak. The couple raised their family and farmed in the town of Green Valley. Jeanne was a good mom and a fun-loving woman.
Charles Malueg Jr.
Charles Harold Malueg Jr., 65, formerly of Suring, passed away on Wednesday, Oct, 16, 2013. Charles was born April 19, 1948, to the late Charles Sr. and Rose (Otradovec) Malueg. He farmed with his father in the town of How and took great pride in his occupation.
Summer school attendance up in Oconto Falls district
Busing and school-aged child care are expected to continue for students attending summer school in the Oconto Falls School District in 2014, after a positive first year. The two programs encouraged more students to enroll in summer courses, said Candie Lehto, assistant superintendent of the Oconto Falls School District, at the School Board meeting Oct.
Three in a row for Panthers boys
Make it three. The Oconto Falls High School boys cross-country team earned its third consecutive Bay Conference title at the conference meet Thursday in Shawano. The boys, led by second-place finisher Mike Friedman, finished with 48 points — the lowest score of the season for the Panthers — to lead the eight-team field.
Tigers wrap season with win over Laona/Wabeno
Monte Noffke scored four touchdowns and the Gillett Secondary School football team dominated Laona/Wabeno 37-18 in its season finale Friday in Wabeno. “It was a great way for us to end the season, with a game to build on our confidence for next season,” Gillett coach Rick Kamps said.

It’s been nearly 25 months since the Oconto Falls volleyball team has lost a Bay Conference match. The Panthers entered Saturday’s tournament in Shawano winning their last 27 league games.

Panthers shut out in finale The Oconto Falls High School football team lost to Seymour 46-0 in a Bay Conference game Friday in Oconto Falls. The Panthers (0-8, 0-8 Bay) fell behind 39-0 in the first half, but held the Thunder (7-2, 6-2 Bay) to a touchdown in the second half. Panthers quarterback Samuel Konitzer was four for nine for 55 yards and had two interceptions.
