Lincoln School survey map approved

A certified survey map for the former Lincoln School property approved by the Shawano Plan Commission on Wednesday carves out a portion of the property adjacent to Main Street that would be acquired by the city. Commonwealth Development Corp., of Fond du Lac, plans to construct 16 apartments in the former school building, plus an additional eight cottage units on the north side of the property.

2 students face discipline for drinking party plans
Two Shawano Middle School students are facing disciplinary action after plans for an underage drinking party were foiled last Friday. School officials confiscated alcohol, including a bottle of vodka, from two female students, according to a Shawano County Sheriff’s Department report. From farm boy to soldier
Eldor Erdmann is a proud World War II Army veteran who used to march in parades on Veterans Day and Memorial Day and was a member of the honor guard. Erdmann, 95, still carries himself straight and tall and said about war, “What are you gonna do if they can‘t get along, they have to fight.” Erdmann got a deferment to stay home to farm in the town of Richmond, but he was eventually drafted on Feb. 5, 1942. “I liked it,” Erdmann said.
Elaine E. Priem
Elaine E. Priem, 92, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, Nov. 4, 2013, at the Cottages in Shawano. A funeral Mass for Elaine Priem will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano. The Rev. Luke Ferris will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church after 9 a.m.
Andy P. Beaudin
Andy Paul Beaudin, 80, of Mason Woods, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, Oct. 23, 2013, at his home with his loving family by his side. Andy was born Jan. 20, 1933, in Laona, a son of the late Andy and Viola (Biever) Beaudin. A celebration of the life of Andy Beaudin will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at the Jackson Room at Mason Woods, N6446 Emory Ansorge Road, Cecil. Dave Green will officiate.
Durwin B. Evenstad
Durwin “Red” B. Evenstad, 72, passed away Nov. 4, 2013, with his loving wife Nancy at his side, after a brief illness in Green Bay. Red was born on Dec. 5, 1940, to Raymond and Irene Evenstad in Albert Lea, Minn. Red spent most of his life working in the grocery business. He owned and ran Red’s IGA in Bonduel for many years before becoming an assistant manager at T & C in Shawano.
Phyllis T. Hesselink
Phyllis T. Hesselink, 90, 0f Shawano, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 6, 2013, at the Evergreen Care Center in Shawano, where she had been a resident for the past two years. Phyllis was born April 7, 1923, in Kensal, N.D., a daughter of the late Peter and Thilda (Hanse) Hansen. The family moved to Wisconsin when Phyllis was young, and she attended Shawano schools, graduating from Shawano High School in 1940. On Nov.
LeRoy A. Schoepke
LeRoy A. Schoepke, 68, of the town of Richmond, Shawano, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness. LeRoy was born May 7, 1945, in New London, a son of the late Arthur and Martha (Riske) Schoepke. He attended the Shawano schools, graduating from Shawano High School in 1963. After graduation, he was employed at Marion Body Works for several years and also farmed.
Randall ‘Randy’ Behnke
Randall “Randy” Behnke, 54, Tigerton, died on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at his home. He was born on Dec. 9, 1958, in Shawano, the son of the late Edward and Phyllis (Schutt) Behnke. He married Julie Hoffman on Aug. 21, 1992, in Wausau. The couple then renewed their vows on Dec. 16, 2011. She survives. Randy was employed at Aarrowcast Inc., Shawano, for several years.
