Garth Ashley, 92, a resident at Kindred Hearts Assisted Living in Shawano, passed away on Monday evening, Nov. 25, 2013. Clara Jean Fowler-Otto, 79, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on Aug. 26, 1934, in South Branch, she was the daughter of the late Sanford and Louise (Pecore) Fowler. Clara began her employment at the Elgin State Hospital in Illinois. She later moved back home and worked as a CHR for the Menominee Restoration Committee.

Bernice A. Beltz, 95, of Clintonville, formerly of Janesville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass. Bernice was born Oct. 7, 1918, in the Township of Pella, Shawano County. She was the daughter of the late John and Elsie (Koepsel) Engelhardt.

Burglary Two teenagers are facing charges of burglarizing two taverns in the town of Pella last week. Miguel K. Rosas, 17, of rural Shawano, and Donald W. Simmons, 18, of Clintonville, are accused of breaking into Hurricane Dawn’s on Nov. 19 and Hopper’s Bar on Nov. 23.

Cellcom, which recently purchased Internet and TV services from Shawano Municipal Utilities, plans to begin transitioning local customers to the new service next month. Also, construction will soon begin on a new Cellcom retail store at 511 N. Main St.
