Corey F. Krueger, 46, of Shawano, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on Monday afternoon, May 26, 2014, after suffering an apparent heart attack. Corey was born Oct. 25, 1967, in Shawano, a son of Fred and Sue (Corey) Krueger. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School and later graduated from Shawano High School with the Class of 1986.

Charles Dean Huehnerfuss, 79, of Shawano, left this world to join our beloved family in Heaven on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in Green Bay. Charles was born Oct. 16, 1934, in Wausau to the loving parents Emil and Goldie Huehnerfuss. Charles attended school in Birnamwood and Wausau. Following school, he entered the U.S. Army, serving from 1955-57 in Texas. He then attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

The ballot appears to be set for the Republican primary in the Shawano County sheriff’s race, with no limit on the amount of money the candidates can spend. Incumbent Randy Wright and challengers Tom Tuma and Adam Bieber have all returned well over the 200 signatures needed to get on the ballot. Wright turned in 400 signatures. Tuma turned in 353, and Bieber turned in 300. The primary will be held Aug.

Wally Saffran, of Oconto Falls, experienced a whirlwind tour of Washington, D.C., with the Old Glory Honor Flight on May 8. A group of 57 veterans of World War II and the Korean War took the flight. Saffran served in the Army during the Korean War. He joined other Korean War veterans in touring the Korean War Memorial, while the World War II veterans toured their memorial.
