A few months ago, our daughter-in-law Jessi and I were sitting at the breakfast counter talking about cliches because someone on TV had just used “at the end of the day” in an interview. Jessi said, “Don’t you hate that expression? What is it supposed to mean, anyway?” Well, that started me thinking about the many cliches we randomly toss into our conversations.

To the editor: We are disappointed in the County Board approving the new logo. We think the new logo is a step backward. In our opinion, the present logo, “Oconto County a Place For You,” and illustration are much more inviting and attractive than a picture of the old courthouse. The birthday party was celebrated in a number of locations, but one of the biggest gatherings was about 35 miles to the south of the path around the Falls. If there would have been a cake, blowing out 200 candles would have taken a very deep breath, but the 75,000 fans at Lambeau Field could have taken care of the task in short order. The real estate market seemed to be up a bit for the birthday event.

The Oconto Falls High School football team faced an uphill battle against Bay Conference co-leader Menasha on Friday. The loss of senior halfback Jacob Yatso due to injury made the challenge even more difficult. The result was another loss, 49-6, for the 0-4 Panthers and another win for 4-0 Menasha, which sits atop the Bay alongside West De Pere.
