The Gillett School Board last week announced the resignation of softball coach Jill Weyers due to family obligations and elevated Jeff Cross to varsity boys basketball coach. Weyers said she stepped down because she is expecting her second child midseason. “I am sad, but am happy that we are having our second child,” Weyers said. Otis E. “Tiny” Goltz, 88, Abrams, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014. He was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Oconto Falls to Adolph and Eleanor (Nass) Goltz. On Oct. 24, 1953, Tiny married Myrtle “Jean” Rueff at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Green Bay. Tiny served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater from 1944 to 1946. He was employed for 38 years with Green Bay & Western Railroad, retiring as an engineer.

A two-week infant massage workshop will take place from 4-5 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 1 and 8, at the Suring Area Public Library Learning Center. The free workshop is intended for adult caregivers and babies 1 to 12 months old.

Ron and Joan Korzeniewski were honored Aug. 5 at the 2014 Wisconsin State Fair for their Century Farm. The first of three Korzeniewski generations to farm at 9460 Schroeder Road, Krakow, was Ron’s grandparents, John and Franceszka. They began farming at their town of Morgan location in spring 1914, raising dairy cattle, hogs and chickens on 160 acres. The farm changed hands in 1941 when Joe and Francis Korzeniewski took over as owners.
