New Yorker magazine publishes new poems in each issue. I like them, but I often wonder how much the poems are appreciated by the majority of the magazine’s readers. Poems are usually somewhat nonliteral and sort of artsy, aren’t they?

Monday morning’s rainy start to the work week on the path around the Falls had to be a hint of changes on the way. Every player and coach involved in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Game in July has been asked to collect at least $750 for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. “It’s a very special feeling to be able to play for someone to help them out and knowing that I’m doing something good for them,” said Gillett High School running back Monte Noffke, who was recently selected to the team and has set a personal goal of raising $3,000.

Monte Noffke was unstoppable on the football field this past fall. The Gillett running back will get one more shot to shine on the high school stage July 18 in the annual Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Game.
