Shawano softball team clobbers Green Bay East/West

April 29 Shawano 18, Green Bay West/East 0 Shawano’s bats sprang to life as the Hawks crushed Green Bay East/West 18-0 in a Bay Conference matchup. The Hawks improved to 5-2 in league play and 8-5 overall. Bonduel 10, Reedsville 0 Maddy Sokolski slugged a two-run home run and scored three runs to lead a balanced Bears offense in a 10-0 shutout over Reedsville. Bonduel’s Fischer wins medalist honors
April 29 CWC Mini-Meet #2 Bonduel’s Colin Fischer earned medalist honors as his team placed second at Pine Hills Golf Course in Gresham. Amherst won the meet with a 343, followed by Bonduel’s 352. Marion placed fourth with a 375, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood was fifth with a 386.

Shawano, Pulaski tennis teams lose
April 29 Notre Dame 6, Pulaski 1 Mikel Iglesias-Mino, playing at No. 3 singles, tallied the only win for the Pulaski boys tennis team as they lost 6-1 to Notre Dame Academy. He defeated Emanuel Poehlmann 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Pietro Aurrichio beat Nathan Maroszek 0-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7. The other five losses happened in two sets each. Xavier 4, Shawano 3

Oconto Falls golfers win Peshtigo Invite
April 28 Peshtigo Bulldog Invite 6-6-6 Oconto Falls scored a 154 to win a 14-team meet at Shamrock Heights Golf Course. Shawano golfers placed ninth with a 164. Oconto Falls senior Kadyn Riel was a co-medalist with a 69, tying with Josh Parins of Luxemburg-Casco. Riel was joined by Carson McDermid with an 85. Nick Trepanier had a 94. Shawano was led by Blake Knope and Jakob Stuhr, with each scoring an 82.

Pulaski soccer team shuts out Sturgeon Bay
April 28 Pulaski 5, Sturgeon Bay 0 The Red Raiders soccer team improved to 6-2 overall with a 5-0 nonconference shutout of Sturgeon Bay. Estella Vieaux scored two of Pulaski’s goals, with Elizabeth Dornfield, Anya Hasser and Alina Harnowski each tallying one.

Marion, Pulaski host track meets, win plenty of gold
April 28 Marion Invite Marion had several of its athletes earn first-place finishes at its home meet. Madiline Wudstruck won the 100-meter hurdles and the triple jump. Klara Peters earned the top spot in the 100-meter dash and the long jump. Kennedy Zuniga won the 800-meter run and the high jump. Presley Stewart-Rolfs won the discus. The top spot in the 4x100-meter relay went to Marion’s Stewart-Rolfs, Kailey Rosenow, Sophia Wudstruck and Madilin

ThedaCare recommends sharing health care wishes
It’s important to decide ahead of time, before a crisis, who you would want to make your health care decisions and what kind of care you would want or not want. Completing advance care planning is the best way to ensure people avoid unwanted care in the event of serious illness or incapacity, said Leslie Koffke, an advance care planning social worker with ThedaCare. “Completing advance care planning is crucial for all adults,” Koffke said.

Northern Flight Alliance awards scholarship
Shawano Community High School senior Chloe Cicero received the first ever Northern Flight Alliance Student’s Outstanding Achievement in Aeronautics Reward (SOAAR) Scholarship for $1,000 to foster her future pursuits in aeronautics. Cicero qualified for the award by completing an interview process with the Northern Flight Alliance Board and completing her first solo flight.
