• Judge Michael Judge imposed and stayed a prison sentence, then placed Shawn Michael Schoen, 48, Marinette, on six years of probation after for theft by a contractor, in connection with an incident that occurred March 16, 2020.
The Pulaski Area Historical Society’s next presentation is titled “America’s Treasures — A Lecture on the History of National Parks.”

An Oconto County judge planned to issue a written decision whether three separate files against a Suring man may go to the same jury.
Prosecutors filed a motion asking to combine the cases in a single trial or, alternatively, to permit the jury to hear about the other cases against Michael James Bullock, 41.
The city of Shawano has been making efforts to restore trees lost to disease and invasive species over the last few years using hybridized species and multiple different species in local parks and along local streets.
“What we’re trying to do is bring back the trees we’ve lost over time,” said Mike Kroenke, city forester. “Hybrid elms are mostly hybridized with American elms.
Bellin College and the College of Menominee Nation have signed a new agreement that creates a streamlined path for CMN students to earn a bachelor of science in nursing from Bellin College.
The agreement will go into effect this upcoming fall semester.

Debra L. Court, 73, passed away after a brief illness on April 30, 2025.
She was born July 8, 1951, to the late Vern and Violet (Buss) Hinz in Shawano.
Debby graduated from Bonduel High School in 1969, then went to Concordia University and graduated in 1973 with a teaching degree. She loved teaching and taught throughout her life, from piano lessons to English.
A pre-disposition investigation has been completed for Aaron Renel, the man accused in a 2022 standoff with law enforcement involving a military vehicle.
Defense attorney Eric Pangburn said he has shared the document with Renel and discussed it.
• Kathryn L. Thunder, 44, Shawano, pleaded no contest May 1 to two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping and misdemeanor counts of possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Several felony counts were dismissed but read into the record in a plea agreement. Judge William Kussel Jr. levied fines and forfeitures totaling $7,254.84.
