Watching sports is one of the things we, as a family, enjoy in our travel through our time on this good earth. Before I married my farmer husband, however, I knew next to nothing about sports. Farming I knew. Sports? Not so much.
Konitzer going to trial for sexual assault
Dylan Konitzer, a Belle Plaine man accused of sexually assaulting his daughter, will be going to trial at the request of his attorney. Defense attorney Preston Smead told Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court Judge Katherine Sloma that he wanted a trial for his client, and Sloma scheduled it for 8:15 a.m. Oct. 28 in Branch I of the Shawano County Courthouse.
United Way launches volunteer opportunities hub
Anyone wanting to volunteer some time and give back to their community has no shortage of options in Shawano and Menominee counties. The issue, sometimes, is who to contact to lend a helping hand. Williams: Volunteering benefits giver more than receiver
Statistically, volunteering has a positive impact on many areas of our lives and those around us. “It impacts our emotional and physical well-being by getting us out and about, meeting new people, staying a little physically active and giving us an overall sense of having accomplished something good with our time,” said Uriah Williams, executive director of Shawano Area United Way.
Mielke Arts Center lease renewed
Shawano County officials agreed July 17 to renew the lease of the Mielke Arts Center with the Shawano County Arts Council for the next five years. The Mielke Arts Center is located at N5649 Airport Road, Shawano. The agreement will run from Sept. 1 to Aug.
