Felony OWI
A Wausau man is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Thursday on a felony drunken driving charge stemming from an alleged reckless driving incident in Belle Plaine on Monday.
Kenneth G. Koskey, 49, could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted of fourth-offense operating while intoxicated. He is also charged with misdemeanor count of hit-and-run for allegedly hitting an unattended vehicle during the incident.
Shawano County sheriff’s deputies were investigating the hit-and-run when they got calls about a reckless driver in a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the hit-and-run, according to the criminal complaint.
Authorities located the vehicle a short time later in a ditch on Spruce Road near state Highway 29. Koskey was getting out of the vehicle when deputies arrived.
According to the complaint, an initial breath test showed an alcohol level of 0.24 percent, three times the legal limit.
Koskey was ordered held on a $2,500 cash bond after a hearing in Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court on Tuesday.
Felony OWI/reckless endangerment
A Gresham man is facing felony counts of operating while intoxicated, reckless endangerment and possession of marijuana after being caught driving a motorcycle the wrong way on state Highway 29 Saturday.
Randall K. Marquette, 49, was heading west in the eastbound lanes shortly after 3 a.m., almost running head-on into a Sheriff’s Department squad car, according to the criminal complaint.
A preliminary breath test showed an alcohol level of 0.196 percent, more than twice the legal limit, according to the complaint, which also states deputies found marijuana on him when he was taken into custody.
According to the complaint, Marquette had just gotten his driver’s license reinstated the day before after being revoked from a previous drunken driving conviction.
Marquette could face a maximum 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine if convicted of reckless endangerment, and a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted of fourth-offense operating while intoxicated.
He also faces a maximum 3½ years in prison and $10,000 fine if found guilty of second or subsequent offense possession of marijuana.
He also faces misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer for allegedly causing a disturbance at Shawano Medical Center during the blood draw.
Marquette posted a $500 cash bond Tuesday and is due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance Aug. 26.
Possession with intent to deliver marijuana
A Wichita, Kan., man has been charged in Shawano County with a felony count of possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
Joseph L. Murphy, 24, was arrested Aug. 8 in Shawano by police responding to a suspicious vehicle complaint. A caller told police there were people sitting for a long time in a parked car and something was “lighting up” inside the vehicle, according to the criminal complaint.
Police allegedly spotted a bag of marijuana in the vehicle and a subsequent search of the vehicle found more than 17 grams of marijuana in several plastic and zip-lock bags, according to the complaint.
Murphy could face a maximum 3½ years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted. He was ordered held on a $2,500 cash bond and was scheduled for an adjourned initial court appearance on Monday.
