Gregory J. Gauthier Sr.

Gregory J. Gauthier Sr., Maec Enaemakim – Big Thunderbird, 55, of Neopit, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on Jan. 27, 1958, in Shawano, he was the son of Theodore and Cynthia (Winneshiek) Gauthier Sr. After attending college, Gregory worked for Menominee Tribal Enterprise. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, being outdoors and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a quiet man, He loved to visit with everyone and loved to tease. He also loved the casino. Gregory had a strong belief in the Indian Ways and took pride in passing on his knowledge. Gregory is survived by four children, Jeannine (Jeff Dickenson) Gauthier, of Keshena, Jamie (Soulaxay Soukhaphaly) Gauthier, of Keshena, Greg (Cherie Thunder) Gauthier Jr., of Oshkosh, and Forrest Gauthier, of Madison; three grandchildren, Lorenzo, Damian, Anaya; his parents, Theodore and Cynthia Gauthier Sr., of Neopit; his goddaughter, Lottie Tucker; 12 siblings, Spencer Gauthier Sr., Frank (Gail) Gauthier, Theodore (Doreen) Gauthier Jr., Lelia (Kevin Kaquatosh) Gauthier, Bernadette Gauthier, Cynthia (Daryl Sr.) Tucker, Brian Gauthier, Diana (Robert) Waukau, Jonathan Garcia, Lydia Garcia, Letecia Hernandez, Alisha Hernandez; aunt, Dorothy (Joseph) Smith; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gregory was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Arianna, and a brother, Ben Ben Hernandez. Traditional services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at the Gauthier residence located at N1250 State Highway 47, Neopit. Burial will be at the Gauthier Homestead.
