Doris F. Kroner, 95, of Shawano, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at a local nursing home. Born on Jan. 23, 1919, in Seymour, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Irene (Burmeister) Lubinski.
On May 1, 1940, Doris was united in marriage to Norbert Kroner in Seymour. The couple made their home and raised their children in the Shawano area. From 1954-1970, the couple ran the family business, The Crystal Bar, just west of Shawano. Prior to 1954, they owned and operated the Basement Bar in Seymour. Doris was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano, where she was active with the Christian Mothers. She cherished the time she spent with her family and always enjoyed fishing with her husband.
Doris is survived by her five daughters, Meredith (Neil) Schroeder, of Glendale, Ariz., Kaye (Steve Henes) Klein, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lois Anne Johnson, of Phoenix, Ariz., Rose Claire (John) Salzmann. of Mosinee, and Patty (Steve) Peebles, of Shawano; a son-in-law, Robert Grignon, of Green Bay; 10 grandchildren, Greg (Jane) Schroeder, of Arizona, Melany (David) Gordon, of Arizona, Jade Johnson, of Arizona, Michelle Grignon, of Arizona, Beau (Holly) Grignon, of Verona, Jennifer Salzmann, of Texas, Justin (Leah) Salzmann, of Kaukauna, Bridgett (Troy) Popp, of Gresham, Ross (Jenn) Peebles, of Green Bay, and Heidi (Nathan) Jackson, of Green Bay; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Sprangers, of De Pere; three sisters-in-law, Sally Lubinski, of Waupaca, Betty Ziesmer, of Appleton, and Agnes Hein, of Green Bay; and a special friend and care giver, Katie Jesse, of Shawano.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert, on April 30, 2006; a son, Norbert J. “Bert” Kroner; two daughters, Terri (Patrick) Emerson and Mary Pat Grignon; her parents; a brother, Donald Lubinski; two sisters, Fran (Lloyd) Kalbes and Verna (Rudy) Rudolph; a brother-in-law, Myron Spranger; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Kroner.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Shawano at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Shawano on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
