Margaret “Maggie” Lapp, 74, of Clintonville, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah.
The former Margaret A. Laux was born July 27, 1939, in Clintonville to Charles and Mary (McCarthy) Laux. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1957 and then went on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a year. Maggie was united in marriage on May 27, 1961, to Donald G. Lapp at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. The couple lived in Waukesha for several years and in 1967 settled in Clintonville. Maggie worked at several jobs over the years, including the Clintonville Shopper’s Guide, Everson’s Grocery Store in Clintonville, and as a front desk clerk at the Wisconsin House Inn, Shawano. But she was always most proud of being a homemaker and raising her children. Maggie was a lifelong member of St. Rose Church and was active with the PCCW. She volunteered with many church projects, started the church bridge club, and shared her deep faith with family and friends. Maggie liked playing solitaire, watching Green Bay Packers football, she was an avid reader, and was an expert Jeopardy game player. She also enjoyed bridge days at the golf course, animals of all kinds, horse racing and college basketball, especially the Wisconsin Badgers. Maggie had a wonderful sense of humor, was always a good sport, and had a beautiful and contagious smile.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Don, and four children, Matthew (Debbie) Lapp, of Clintonville, Jamey (Tim) Duebler, of Shawano, Andy (Mary) Lapp, of Clintonville, and Joe (Amy) Lapp, of Clintonville. There are eight grandchildren, Tosha Cherney, Joshua Lapp, Randy (Alissa) Lapp, Stacy (Nabil) Aramouni, Zachary Lapp, Savannah Lapp, Alex Lapp and Lauren Lapp. There are 11 great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Dominic, Brooke, Jonah, Caleb, Isaac, Nina, Sophie, Lex, Xavier and Jaxson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dr. Charles (Shirley) Laux, and a sister, Marianne “Molly” (Cal) Koski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 23, at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. The Rev. John “Jack” Mullarkey will officiate, and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.
