Lois A. Zastrow

Lois Adela Zastrow, 85, of Shawano, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014. Born on Nov. 11, 1928, in the town of Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Reinhold and Amanda (Ruhbusch) Wruck. She was baptized on Dec. 9, 1928, and was confirmed on May 10, 1942. Lois graduated from Shawano High School in 1946. After graduation she worked at Farmer’s Hardware. On Sept. 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Carl Zastrow in Shawano. Lois enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, baking and going on trips. She liked to listen to and go to Brewers games. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lois was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church-Hermansfort, where she was a member of Ladies Aid and LWML. She also volunteered at the LCFS Thrift Store. Most of her life Lois lived in Red River, later moving to an apartment in Shawano in 2007. Lois is survived by five children, Reginald (Sandy) Zastrow, of Shawano, Ronda (Tom) Strenski, of Green Bay, Randall (Kim) Zastrow and Roxy Martzke, all of Red River, and Robin Kaufman, of Eagan, Minn.; six grandchildren, Daniel Kluth, of Helena, Mont., Angela (Adam) Craig, of Pleasant Prairie, Jason (Käryn) Martzke, of Fall Creek, Elizabeth (Jesse) Otto, of Pella, Kyle Kaufman, of Littleton, Colo., and Karly Kaufman, of Eagan, Minn.; five great-grandchildren, Nolan, Cameron and Jaelyn Martzke and Ava and Austin Craig; four stepgrandchildren; and 11 great-stepgrandchildren. Lois is further survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara (David) Habeck, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on Feb. 24, 1999; two sons-in-law, Donald Kluth and James Martzke; her parents; her in-laws; a brother, Reuben (Phyllis) Wruck; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Violet Sperberg, Reuben and Charlotte Habeck, and Lawrence and Shirley Sperberg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church-Hermansfort with the Rev. Roland Golz and Vicar Steve Conradt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
