Benjamin G. Wedde, 73, of Clintonville, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014, peacefully at his residence.
Ben was born on Aug. 4, 1940, in Clintonville, the son of the late Herman and Ealta (Jahnke) Wedde. He attended Roosevelt Grade School in the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County, and graduated from Clintonville High School in 1958. On April 12, 1975, Ben married Susan Oldenburg at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, where Ben was baptized, confirmed and was a lifelong member. The couple has lived in Clintonville all of their married life.
Ben had worked at the FWD Corporation, Clintonville, the Larsen Company, Hortonville, for 43 years, then at Lakeside Foods, Seymour, for six years, retiring in 2010. Ben continued to help people maintain their homes and yards throughout the years. He was a great handyman and could fix just about anything.
His hobbies included fishing and deer hunting with family, gardening, watching comedies and old western shows on TV as well as the backyard bird and squirrel activity. Ben will be missed for his practical jokes, his sense of humor, his laugh, his kindness and being there for his family.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Susan; daughter, Amy Anton (fiance, Angel Collins), Madison; son, David Wedde (fiancee, Chasity Chmielewski), Clintonville; a grandchild expected in October 2014; sisters, Gladys (Marvin) Draheim, New London, Rose Mary Passehl, Clintonville, Gloria (Carl) Krenke, Clintonville, Linda (Luther) Lohff, Marion, Virginia Wedde, Marion, and Brenda Wedde, Clintonville; brothers, Edward (Terry) Wedde, Shawano, Chester (Dawn) Wedde, Clintonville, Dan (Cathy) Wedde, Clintonville; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Rose, in infancy; brothers, Archie and Ralph; a sister in infancy; a niece, Brenda Draheim, in infancy; a great-nephew, Cody Wechinski; and brother-in-law, John Passehl.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, with the Rev. Benjamin Hollingsead officiating. Inurnment will be in the Friendship Cemetery, Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
