The 36th annual Shawano Folk Music Festival opens Friday at Mielke Park in Shawano.
In addition to a wide range of musical styles, the festival includes an arts and crafts fair, children’s activities and more.
The music fans can visit a buckskinners exhibit depicting the fur trade of the early 1800s on Saturday and Sunday. Kids Day, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, will feature story sessions, a clown and crafts.
The music moves indoors Friday and Saturday evening as headline concerts are held inside the air-conditioned Mielke Arts Center.
The arts center headliners Friday are Peter Roller, Robin Pluer, Goodtime Specials, Macyn Taylor and Brother Sun.
Joe Crookston, the festival’s honorary co-chair, shares the Mielke stage spotlight with Tracy Grammer and the Chris Aaron Band with Jim Schwall on Saturday.
A group sing, where all of the performers come together and play one last song for and with the audience, closes the festival on Sunday.
Weekend passes cost $60, which include Friday and Saturday night concert tickets along with a day pass for Saturday and Sunday. An evening concert ticket will cost $20 each day.
Daytime passes are available for $12 for each day, and a family daytime pass costs $30. Day passes for children under 12 are free.
