On Saturday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m., a very interesting and unique music program will be featured at the Mielke Arts Center.
Vocal Tapestry is a group of singers from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. They will present a concert of choral folk music from around the world. It will feature music from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Mozambique, Sudan, Balkans, China and Japan.
One of the musicians, Sheila Feay-Shaw, is a former Shawanoite and a graduate of Shawano Community High School. She is now a professor at UW-Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts. She and seven friends are presenting this concert in memory of the late Calvin Brockman, longtime musician and band director at Shawano.
I encourage everyone to come and enjoy this special evening.
