Bernice A. Nitzske, 69, of Embarrass, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 1, 2015, at the Shawano Medical Center following a brief illness.
Bernice was born on Dec. 23, 1945, in Waupaca County as the daughter of the late Elmer C. and Dora (Braatz) Passehl. She grew up in the Clintonville area and was united in marriage to Ralph Nitzske on May 10, 1975, at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. Bernice moved to Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass in 2003 and resided there since. Ralph preceded his wife in death on Dec. 6, 2007. Bernice enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, card games and Bingo. One of her greatest joys was spending time in the kitchen baking with her daughter, Brenda. She loved all of her grandsons and valued the time spent with family.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Robert) Engel, Clintonville; son, George Nitzske, Bear Creek; grandsons, Marcus, Zachary, Justin, Levi and Samuel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; sister, Delores Blank; and brothers, John, Jerome and Wallace.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, with the Rev. Benjamin Hollingsead officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery, town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County, in the spring.
