Michelle Syndergaard Buettner

Michelle Syndergaard Buettner, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, in Madison. Michelle was born in Ames, Iowa, on Sept. 15, 1961, to John and Nancy (Olson) Syndergaard. She was united in marriage to Kurt Buettner on Jan. 22, 1994. Michelle graduated from Shawano High School and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Michelle taught school at the Menominee Indian School District for many years. Even under the most difficult of circumstances of her illness, she refused to be anything but optimistic. Her students had a great impact on her life, as she did on theirs. Michelle is survived by her children, Erika, Andrew, Anthony and Alex; her stepchildren, Danielle Buettner and Dustin Buettner; and her grandsons, Quintin and Josiah. She is further survived by her parents, John and Nancy Syndergaard, of Shawano; her brother and sister-in-law, Jon and Barbara Syndergaard, of Pulaski; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joel Bowles, of Albertville, Minnesota; and her niece and nephews, Jacob and Dana Syndergaard, and Ian, Dane and Finn Bowles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kurt, on Nov. 29, 2013, and her grandparents. A time to remember and celebrate the life of Michelle will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Keith Swanson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be established in Michelle’s name.
