With Easter gone, thoughts turn to ‘M*A*S*H’

I’m sitting here on Easter Sunday afternoon, with my husband snoozing in his recliner, and all is quiet. For the first time ever, our family had our Easter gathering on Saturday — and all because of the Milwaukee Brewers’ opening game on Monday. Actually, it worked out well. The hunt for Easter baskets (in the house) seems to get easier the older the grandkids get. This year, for the egg hunt, Bob and I made up clever/funny clues for each grandkid. Well, we thought they were clever/funny. In most cases the clues helped; some not so much. Clue example: s-l-o-w stone. Wouldn’t you guess the egg was under the decorative turtle near the porch? Moving on. April is here and opening night of “M*A*S*H” is on the 23rd. As you know, the Shawano AMVETS Post 10 will be a part of the opening ceremony on that night. If you are a veteran of the U.S. armed forces, you can pick up a free ticket for the 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23, show by stopping in at Qualheim’s or the Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce. It’s the AMVETS’ way of thanking you for your service. The AMVETS would also like to invite you to join their organization, but there is no obligation to do so. Join us for a fun-filled evening in the M*A*S*H compound! Other performance nights for “M*A*S*H” are 7 p.m. April 24, 25 and April 30, May 1 and 2, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26 and May 3. Call at 715-526-2525 for reservations or online at www.shawanoarts.com. Tickets are also available at the Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce and the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce. Denise Riley’s specialty cupcakes will be for sale during intermission of “M*A*S*H.” You can enjoy Hot Lips Lemon, Radar Grape Nehi or Red Cross Red Velvet flavors. M-m-m! Auditions for “Clue the Musical” will be held on Monday and Tuesday, April 27 and 28, at the Mielke Arts Center. Prepare an upbeat musical selection for the audition (not a song from “Clue”). Cast and crew will meet on Tuesday, May 5, and rehearsals will begin the week of May 11. For more details, go online at www.shawanoarts.com or call Brandon Byng, the director, at 920-737-8620.
